It worked for me

My entire life has been spent surrounded by creators hoping to make their mark.  These are people who have a vision for creative ways to make the world better -- I find them endlessly inspiring.

I have been an artist, a poet, a musician, a paper sculptor, a writer, a publisher, a photographer, a teacher, a radio DJ, a cartoonist, and an entrepreneur.

Five years ago, my wife and I took a huge leap: I started my company at the same time that we had our first child and she quit her tenured job as a teacher.

Boom! Everything changed all at once.

At the time, people thought we were crazy. But we took these actions after a lot of calculated research, and had a plan in place for how my company would be built by helping others grow their ability to create and share their creative work.

Five years later, I have worked with hundreds of people, run a six-figure business every year since the beginning, and unlocked the reality to what it means to find time to do work that truly matters to you.

This is not just about productivity, it is about making choices for the life you want to live, and the meaning you want to create in the work that you do.

It has worked for many others

I have worked with hundreds of creative professionals. My days are spent in the trenches with these creators. None of this is just theory to me, but is always framed in the everyday reality of what truly works for doing creative work that matters.

"I made quantum leaps in knowing what was deeply important to me in my creative work – my art, my business, my writing – and better yet, in how to communicate that message to the world."

Cynthia Morris
Artist & creative coach,

"Dan’s courses can apply to so many aspects of an artist’s life. As a photographer, I’ve met some challenges in time management, prioritization and being overwhelmed & his advice has been a beacon to get to the core of who I am and what I have to share, in the most effective way. His enthusiasm & experience helps entrepreneurs marry their ambitions with the practical steps needed to succeed.”

Pixie Spindel

"Dan Blank has incredible insight into the creative process, and especially the pitfalls that keep people from doing their best work, putting it out into the world, and reaping the benefits of that kind of focus. He'll push you in the best way possible, until you're finally doing the work that you always hoped you could."

Sarah Bray
Creative strategist, designer & writer,

“Dan helped me push through my fear to prioritize what really mattered most to me. I didn’t have to do it all. I just had to get smarter about how I worked and create habits for myself that enabled me to get my voice heard in an intensely noisy world. Four years after working with Dan for a period of a few months, I feel like I’ve become the writer and entrepreneur I could then have only dreamed of becoming.”

Marilyn Price-Mitchell, Ph.D.
Psychologist & educator,

“If I could point to the one investment I made that dramatically improved my career, it would be working with Dan. His classes provide results right away. Within six months of taking the course, I launched my website, created an email list from scratch, and built a big enough audience to really establish momentum. Dan’s class was the first crucial step that started me down the right road.”

Gabriella Pereira
Writer, teacher and entrepreneur,

“Dan offers a wonderful mix of understanding the ins-and-outs of the new creative marketplace and the ability to translate and apply that knowledge into action for an author, artist or entrepreneur. He is an invaluable partner to guide you along your journey from creation to execution.”

Cali Williams Yost
Flexible workplace strategist,

“I've had the pleasure of working with Dan Blank for the past year as fellow members of an advisory team for an exciting start-up company. His thoughtful, sympathetic approach to working through fears and doubts while keeping a bigger picture in clear focus has been an inspiration. As someone who is himself mastering the balance between creativity and business acumen, Dan sets the best possible example for any creative person who needs a sounding board, a second set of eyes, and a new way of prioritizing and embracing their processes.”

Emma Dryden
Editor for authors and illustrators,

I have worked with incredible organizations that support creative work, including: Sesame Workshop, J. Walter Thompson, Random House, Hachette Book Group, Abrams Books, Workman Publishing, Writers House, The Kenyon Review, and many others.

I also have deep experience with the behind-the-scenes technical stuff: I have helped launch hundreds of blogs and email newsletters; I’ve built lots of websites; developed podcasts, videos, and even a successfully funded Kickstarter campaign; and I’ve consulted on social media strategy for large organizations. Plus, I have run my own company for years, meaning that I have had to become the master of hundreds of tiny technical details that must be managed from day to day.

I have spoken at dozens of conferences, including BookExpo, Digital Book World, AWP, Romance Writers of America, Thrillerfest, and many others.

Introducing the

Join me to take control of your life and find more time to do work that matters to you. This 4-week online course takes you step by step through the process.

Outline of each session

Fearless Work is a 4-week online course that takes you through four key steps to establish the habits that will supercharge your creative work. You will have access to a private online classroom that contains powerful coursework. Each lesson includes walk-through video lectures, a written lesson in PDF format, and worksheet PDFs so you can easily print them out.

You can’t do it all. Creating work that matters is about homing in on the core things that are most meaningful to your life. In this first lesson we dig deep to identify the key elements to prioritize in your life. We don’t just focus on “work” priorities either. I believe that to create work that matters to you, we have to ensure that your time and energy aligns to all of your goals, both personal and professional. The goal of this session is clarity. When you feel aligned in your vision, when you prioritize what matters, everything changes. You begin seeing opportunities in your days, instead of just barriers. You find yourself in more conversations with like-minded people and begin to realize that YES, you can find more time for creative work.

Many professionals I know are overwhelmed with responsibilities and full of anxiety about how to truly manage it all. In this session, we discuss establishing weekly and monthly processes for gaining momentum in your creative work. We dig into the nitty-gritty tactics of how to find more time, more energy, and create a process that is 100% personalized to how you like to work. This lesson alone is worth the price of the course. We not only dig into specific tools and processes, but focus on how to integrate them into your life.

We all know that discipline and habits are core to finding a sustainable process for creative work. But life gets in the way, doesn’t it? In this session we talk about realistic ways to identify the habits that you need most, and how to find practical ways to make them work in your life. This is a process, not a magic button. I give you the roadmap for how to identify key changes, how to test them in your life in ways that do not disrupt, and how to create a system to adjust as life’s bumps come your way.

This is the behind-the-scenes stuff that people rarely talk about publicly, but drives so many of our actions and decisions. In this session, we’ll talk about realistic ways of managing it all from a human perspective, including mental and physical health. In this session, we expose the triggers that rob you of creative time and energy. I share core actions that successful creative professionals use every single day to ensure that their work stays on track, and how they manage the emotional ups and downs that are bound to accompany the process of creating work that truly matters.

The VIP level offers you access to a private Facebook group where you can do just that. You can learn from others in the course and forge new relationships.

“Dan’s advice has changed my whole approach to my career.  His thoughtful, provocative and insightful challenges, helped me directly communicate my message to my audience so they understand who I am, what I care about, and how I can help them. In his course, he also connected me to a remarkable and diverse group of other creatives overcoming similar challenges.  Dan has such a refreshing, respectful and positive way of challenging me to overcome my resistance to getting out of my comfort zone!”

Kelly Dumar
Poet, playwright, and workshop facilitator,

“I say this with deep gratitude: Fearless work is what Dan first celebrates in each of us, and then guides us to ground ourselves in and sustain. What's most remarkable, though, is that he does this so very gently and with careful honor for what he knows drives us to create and for what he knows we hope to inspire: things like curiosity, empathy, joy, laughter, respect, compassion and love. Thank you, Dan.”

Barb Short
Owner, Short Stories Community Book Hub

"Dan Blank offers a much welcomed, fresh approach to bringing your work to the world. I was close to giving up once again having spent the last two years feeling gross trying to fit into traditional hype formulas. There had to a better way, but where. Instead of being bound by a one-size-fits-all, step-by-step plan, Dan gently leads you into honest conversations about your hesitations. The perspectives he presents begins shifting the impossible into the doable. Fundamentally thinking and working differently around the creation process and connecting with others leaves me feeling energized and empowered to make a difference.”

Lorraine Watson
Life coach,

“Dan helped me find opportunities that others couldn’t. Instead of telling me the 'flavor of the month' strategy that others were touting, he designed an approach that felt right to me, and played to my strengths.”

Doug Sundheim
Organizational consultant & executive coach,

“Working with Dan gave me an even deeper understanding and clarity of what my work is about, and helped me concisely verbalize this in a way that resonated with my audience. Dan helped me move to the next level in my career.”

Crystal Chin
Dancer,  writer, and pilates instructor,

“Dan makes even the biggest creative goals feel doable. He radiates integrity and heart as he shares his own experiences in a way that’s easy to relate to. I particularly appreciate his ability to meaningfully address the full range of issues facing creative professionals  —  from small changes like managing daily energy flow to facing your larger fears in a constructive way. Dan is both curious and insightful in a way that makes a powerful impression and can inspire powerful creative breakthroughs. He truly lives the principles he talks about for building a body of meaningful creative work — you can’t help but be inspired by his commitment and discipline.”
